What do I do every day?
Well, at the moment it's vacation time and so I'm working full-time as a librarian in my home town. I love working in the library, every day is different and I'm always helping people. Since it's been the school holidays until last week there's been loads of kids activities, like the Teddy Bears' Picnic, and I've been able to work all those shifts, it's been great fun. Kids are great, I can't wait to have my own. Something else I adore about my job is the 'Silver Surfers'. I've been able to help a lot of pensioners get started on the Internet so they can keep in touch with family abroad. They get so excited when they get their first reply to an e-mail, it's so funny, and really sweet.
What do I love doing?
In my spare time I really enjoy reading. I get really absorbed in different subjects and use my staff grading to my advantage to get as many books as possible. At the moment I've been reading all about geisha - I read 'Memoirs of a Geisha' by Arthur Golden and I wanted to know the real stories.
I'm also a classically-trained singer and orchestral bassoonist. Classical music is my real passion - if I had to have a specialist subject on Mastermind that would be it. Since I went to university I haven't done any singing other than the karaoke at the student union bar, and my voice is rusting up, which makes me really sad, but I still play bassoon a lot. I haven't managed to get any paid theatre work since moving but hopefully that will change!
Let's see, other things that are important to me...
I've recently become a Christian again after a long time exploring other religious paths. I spent three years as an 'eclectic pagan' and it was in that context that I became closest to God.
When I leave university I hope to work in the field of public law, either for the Scottish Legal Service, or perhaps as a consultant for a company. It's difficult because I really want to do something I enjoy, but how do you know if you'll enjoy it until you're doing it?
That's it from me just now. Hope I haven't bored you all too much.
Hopefully this link will go to a picture, but if not, my LJ icon is a photo of me - sorry, I'm not very technologically minded! As you can see I haven't the faintest how to Photoshop pictures, so that's me 'as is' - might be disturbing!
